I first met Laurent four years ago after he had had a terrible motorcycle accident, which was not even his fault. His parent's, Jean and Simone told me that the doctors had warned them that Laurent would never walk again. That same year he was up and dancing at one of our gigs. I feel very humble when I see this man's determination and I am proud to be greatly strengthened by his inner force. This concert has become a yearly event for the band with our friend Jackie Rolland, who comes to sing all the popular French rock and roll songs, then some waltzes, tangos, fandangos, beguines etc..so all the people can really enjoy themselves.
We were very happy this year that two out of three of the band members wife's came, Valerie Bottomline and Dinky Stringkiller and had a good time with Rénée, Jackie's wife. (BTW Raphael is single.) Philippe's son Max came and had a whale of a time having his picture taken and cruising the dance floor.
This is the kind of evening that makes music making so worthwhile and rewarding, just bringing good feelings to people, having a terrific evening with friends and family and just giving back to Laurent all the faith he and his family and friends have always had in him.
A special mention to some other friends, Ric and les Affranchis who played a great set without their drummer. Listen to their guitarist guesting with us, very tasty indeed.
I am putting this site up in two goes, first just pictures and now I have added the sound files, but sifting through over five hours of tape takes a little time.
